Strategy Overview

Bronzong is one of the bulkiest Stealth Rock setters in the tier thanks to its amazing defenses, fantastic defensive typing, and great ability in Levitate, all of which allow it to check common offensive Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Goodra, and Mega Sceptile. It can also provide some offensive presence with Psywave, which hits targets that resist Psychic for somewhat consistent damage like Registeel and Metagross. However, Bronzong is still extremely passive and normally invites in dangerous offensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-10%, Mega Blastoise, and Salazzle. Bronzong also lacks a reliable method of recovery outside of Leftovers, making it extremely vulnerable to Knock Off. Its low Speed makes it very vulnerable to being forced out by Taunt users such as Noivern, Mandibuzz, and Mismagius. Bronzong also has some hefty competition as a defensive Steel-type: Registeel is a better defensive pick if its team has a good Ground-resistant Pokemon, while Metagross has a much greater offensive presence.
