Strategy Overview
Bronzor is an incredibly passive Pokemon that must rely on the combination of Psywave and Toxic to chip down opposing Pokemon. This often leaves it as setup fodder for Pokemon like Ferroseed and RestTalk Spiritomb that don't mind Toxic; additionally, when asleep, Bronzor can be exploited by setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Alolan Raichu and Shell Smash Omastar. Bronzor is also heavily reliant on its Eviolite to serve as an effective defensive switch-in, meaning if it loses its Eviolite to Knock Off from Tangela or Trick from Rotom-F, it struggles to keep up defensively. Furthermore, because it must hold an Eviolite to actually check what it wants to, Bronzor cannot hold an item such as Leftovers or a pinch Berry to provide it with passive recovery and must depend on the unreliable Rest. Bronzor's passivity generally restricts it to slower, bulkier teams, where it can truly showcase its benefits; its Steel/Psychic typing, access to Levitate, and excellent bulk allows Bronzor to switch into a range of strong wallbreakers, including but not limited to Aurorus, Victreebel, Torterra, and Lycanroc. Bronzor also has a notable type advantage against most other Stealth Rock users in the tier, giving it the upper hand in matchups against its competition in Metang, Mudsdale and Regirock. For these reasons, Bronzor is a solid option for a Stealth Rock user, albeit a fairly niche one due to the extensive support it requires to function effectively.
