Strategy Overview

Lumineon provides excellent role compression, being a great Water switch-in that can remove entry hazards and slow pivot all at once. It is just bulky enough to check many attackers, such as Golem, which lack a super effective move to hit Lumineon with. However, Lumineon can easily be broken through by strong wallbreakers such as Choice Band Golem and Stoutland, and it is easily worn down due to its lack of reliable recovery. It is also weak to many of the most prominent threats in the metagame, such as Rotom-F, Leafeon, and Zebstrika, and faces competition from Politoed and Lapras as a Water-immune Pokemon and Prinplup, Vibrava, and Vullaby as a defensive Defog user.
