Kecleon

Kecleon holds its place in the NU tier as a niche wallbreaker thanks to its spectacular coverage and movepool, along with its ability, Protean. These traits allow it to break past many common Normal-type checks, making Kecleon a great addition to Normal spam archetypes. Kecleon also sports the fourth strongest Sucker Punch in NU, which lets it deal with fast offensive Pokemon such as Manectric. However, Kecleon's abysmal Speed requires it to invest heavily in the stat simply to outspeed walls and forces it to rely on an only partially invested Sucker Punch to damage anything faster, making it nearly useless against faster teams. Kecleon also has subpar bulk, which makes opportunities to switch Kecleon in extremely rare, as even moderately powerful neutral attacks will leave a dent in it. While physical sets are more common in general due to Kecleon's large physical movepool, a mixed attacker is generally more effective due to the tier's plethora of physically defensive Pokemon, such as Steelix, Vileplume, and Gastrodon, that are vulnerable to special coverage moves.
