Strategy Overview
Zebstrika's only niche among Electric-types is its amazing Speed tier, which allows it to outspeed almost all of the unboosted metagame, including threats like Floatzel and Alolan Persian, and serve as a revenge killer and late-game cleaner. Sadly, Zebstrika’s Special Attack is very underwhelming even with a Life Orb, and it often can be easily countered by common threats such as Lanturn and Mudsdale, which also stop its Volt Switch. Due in part to its mediocre bulk, Zebstrika can be easily chipped through priority, hazards, and its own Life Orb recoil, making it fear Choice Scarf and priority users. Despite access to decent abilities such as Lightning Rod and Sap Sipper, its subpar bulk renders it unable to switch into offensive Grass- and Electric-types like Victreebel and Alolan Raichu. Lastly, it still gets competition from other Electric-types that can provide more offensive pressure. Alolan Raichu is stronger and sports a much better movepool, and Rotom-F can cripple its counters with Trick. All of these factors combined make Zebstrika an extremely poor choice in the PU metagame.
