Strategy Overview
- Magic Bounce is a really useful ability, as it's able to prevent entry hazards from being set on the field and also prevents Mega Diancie's foes from trying to spread status.
- Boasting a base 160 in both offensive stats, Mega Diancie is able to utilize a mixed set incredibly well, being able to quite effectively dent through dedicated special and physical walls, such as Blissey and Giratina.
- Rock / Fairy is a useful offensive typing, as it allows Mega Diancie to check many defensive threats such as Ho-Oh, Lugia, Mega Sableye, Blissey, and Tyranitar as well as some offensive threats such as Yveltal, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza as long as the latter two don't run Earthquake.
- At the same time, Mega Diancie loses to some of the most common offensive threats in the tier such as Primal Groudon, Necrozma-DM, Primal Kyogre, Mega Lucario, and Arceus Ground.
- Although it has a useful ability in Magic Bounce, Mega Diancie still loses to most of the common entry hazard setters in the tier such as Primal Groudon, Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Skill Swap Deoxys-S sets, so it has to rely on other Pokemon in the tier to effectively keep entry hazards off the field. As a result, Mega Diancie can only really utilize its ability against more passive playstyles such as stall.
- Although base 110 in both defenses is quite respectable, its low HP combined with the fact that it has to run a nature that reduces bulk results in Mega Diancie being rather frail, even when those stats are boosted.
- Although a base 110 Speed is relatively impressive on paper, it should be noted that many of Mega Diancie's checks actually outspeed it, as support Arceus formes opt to run enough Speed investment to outpace Mega Lucario and other threats such as Xerneas commonly use a Choice Scarf.
- Due to the fact that Mega Diancie takes up a Mega slot and the fact that Necrozma-DM and Arceus Ground are two of the most common Pokemon in the tier, it is often hard to justify Mega Diancie's placement on a team.
