Strategy Overview
On paper, Chimecho has a lot of things going for it. It has a solid support movepool, including reliable recovery in Recover, entry hazard removal in Defog, and rare access to Healing Wish. It also has a solid ability in Levitate, making it a pivot into certain Pokemon such as Mudsdale. However, this all falls apart when one looks at Chimecho's stats and typing, which are pretty bad for the type of Pokemon it is supposed to be. There are plenty of Psychic-type in the tier which provide similar utility while still being vastly more competent choices, such as Musharna and Claydol. They also have ways against the Dark-types that counter Chimecho such as pivoting with U-turn or Healing Wish or using Choice Specs Dazzling Gleam and Ground-type STAB moves.
