Strategy Overview

Passimian is the only Fighting-type Pokemon in the tier that can perform the roles of a revenge killer and pivot with U-turn. Its access to coverage moves like Rock Slide and Gunk Shot allows it to punish its checks in Flying- and Fairy-types like Talonflame and Sylveon. With a Choice Scarf, it's able to outpace Pokemon like Tauros, Talonflame, and Tyrantrum after a Dragon Dance and KO them with its attacks. With a Choice Band, Passimian becomes capable of breaking past traditional Fighting-type checks like Talonflame and Sylveon with its raw power. Choice Scarf Passimian, though, cannot revenge kill certain threats like +1 Silvally-Ground and Choice Scarf Rotom-C. Meanwhile, Choice Band Passimian still cannot reliably bypass certain Fighting-type checks such as Vileplume and Weezing. Passimian faces a lot of risk-reward situations by being Choice locked like using Rock Slide to predict the Flying-type switch-in in front of a Steel-type like Copperajah. Passimian also must avoid status effects from foes like Talonflame's Flame Body and Vileplume's Effect Spore, which discourage U-turn.
