With fantastic Special Attack, amazing Speed, and great STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Psyshock, Latios is easily one of the best wallbreakers in the Monotype metagame. Its great Speed allows it to outspeed common threats such as Galvantula, Landorus, Garchomp, and Mega Pinsir and function as a great revenge killer. Most teams in the format lack a solid Pokemon that resists Dragon; this makes Latios a fantastic wallbreaker and turns Draco Meteor into a very spammable move. To complement this, Latios has fantastic coverage moves in Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Surf, and Hidden Power Fire to threaten its checks. Even though it has great offensive moves, Latios is not lacking in support moves either, as it has access to Defog to clear away entry hazards and Roost to improve its longevity. Furthermore, its decent defensive typing combined with an immunity to Ground-type moves due to Levitate lets it switch into most moves with ease. However, because of Latios's relatively average physical bulk, it is vulnerable to Choice Scarf users with U-turn such as Landorus-T and Victini and can be worn down and revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny and Weavile. Even though Latios has great Speed, it still faces Speed ties against other fast Pokemon such as Gengar, Mega Diancie, Latias, and opposing Latios.
