Strategy Overview
Glaceon has a powerful base 130 Special Attack which distinguishes it from other Ice-type Pokemon such as Articuno and Lapras. As a specially attacking Ice-type Pokemon, it receives competition from Regice, which has far better coverage and access to Rock Polish, and Rotom-F, which has a secondary STAB, but sets itself apart as an even stronger wallbreaker. Glaceon can take on most of the Grass- and Flying-types in the tier such as Tangela, Roselia, and Vullaby. It also has decent bulk, granting it the ability to take a few hits, which can partially counteract its low Speed. Unfortunately, Glaceon has a shallow movepool, which gives it very limited options to deal with Pokemon that resist its Ice-type STAB moves. A weakness to Stealth Rock, susceptibility to all entry hazards, and slowness all contribute to wearing Glaceon down quickly.
