Strategy Overview

Blissey has exceptional HP and solid Special Defense stats which allow it to function as an excellent special wall on stall builds. It has access to useful support moves in Wish and Heal Bell, and its ability Natural Cure heals Blissey's status conditions upon switching out, which allows Blissey to absorb status for a team. It is important to note that Blissey outclasses Chansey in the Ubers metagame, as Blissey can hold Shed Shell to escape Shadow Tag users and has a usable Special Attack stat that deters Mega Salamence with the threat of Ice Beam. Blissey's Normal typing is a mixed bag in that on one hand, it is only weak to Fighting-type attacks, which are not too common, but it only offers a single immunity to Ghost and has no resistances. The shift to a more physically based metagame is unfortunate for Blissey, because it is rather frail physically. Furthermore, Blissey has very little offensive presence, so it can often be bait for Taunt. It is also susceptible to all entry hazards, meaning that it can be worn down relatively easily. In spite of these things, Blissey is an important special wall that offers valuable support to teams.
