Once the bane of ORAS OU, the Shadow Tag ban doomed Gothitelle to being unviable in even PU. Now that it is unable to trap its foe, it is unlikely to get a good opportunity to set up, which means it has trouble getting past the tier's Dark-types like Skuntank. In addition, its only decent bulk paired up with its subpar Special Attack make it outclassed by a multitude of other Psychic-types, like Alolan Raichu and Musharna.
