Strategy Overview

Wailord is a poor choice in SS ZU due to being heavily outclassed by other bulky Water-types thanks to its lackluster bulk and lack of recovery outside of Rest. As a result, Wailord has to make do with a rather gimmicky trapping set on stall teams, but such sets are outclassed by Pyukumuku, which has better overall bulk, more reliable recovery in Recover, and a better ability. Pokemon such as Qwilfish, Poliwrath, and Silvally-Water offer far more to the table as bulky Water-types while having better overall bulk and more utility.
