Without question, Butterfree is one of the worst Pokemon in the game. It's not good enough for standard, it's not good enough for UU (Scyther outclasses it, among many others), and even amongst the NU Pokemon, there are still plenty of other choices in Ledian, Ariados, and Dustox. Its main use is using Sleep Powder and other status moves to delay opponents from hitting your other Pokemon.
