Strategy Overview

Mega Manectric is Electric's fastest pivot, sporting a base 135 Speed stat that lets it outspeed most of the unboosted metagame, including Weavile and Latios, allowing it to gain momentum off of the opponent's switches with Volt Switch. Prior to Mega Evolving, Manectric still has a good base 105 Speed, which lets it outspeed threats such as Garchomp and Landorus along with the highly populated base 100 Speed tier. Mega Manectric also has decent base 135 Special Attack and access to Overheat and Flamethrower, which allow it to deal with Grass-types that could switch into its Electric-type attacks such as Ferrothorn. Before it Mega Evolves, Manectric can use Static to fish for paralyzes against Pokemon attacking it with a contact move. Mega Manectric gains Intimidate when it Mega Evolves, which it can use to support its teammates by lowering the opposing Pokemon's Attack. However, its main asset is its high Speed, as its Special Attack is too low to break through most walls. Mega Manectric also can’t use Intimidate to its best effect because of poor physical bulk, and it doesn't add any particularly good resistances to Electric-type teams. Using Mega Manectric comes with the price of not using Mega Ampharos, which has a better defensive typing and more Special Attack. Nevertheless, Mega Manectric is still a viable option for offensive Electric teams because of its high Speed and offensive coverage.
