Strategy Overview

Psychic

Jirachi fills a supportive role on Psychic teams as a specially defensive pivot and Stealth Rock setter thanks to its solid bulk, part-Steel typing, and access to U-turn, Serene Grace, and support moves in Toxic, Healing Wish, and Thunder Wave. Jirachi's part-Steel typing makes it immune to Toxic, neutral to Bug, and resistant to Dragon, Rock, and Fairy, allowing it to better take on Heracross, Latias, Mega Aerodactyl, and Gardevoir. However, it also adds weaknesses to Ground and Fire, rendering Jirachi useless in those matchups. Its solid bulk allows Jirachi to survive Choice Specs Hydreigon's Dark Pulse, Choice Specs Kingdra's rain-boosted Hydro Pump, and Volcarona's Fire Blast. However, Jirachi lacks healing moves and is reliant on Leftovers for passive recovery.
