Mega Garchomp is a staple on Ground teams as a mixed wallbreaker because of its good typing, solid coverage, and fantastic offensive stats. Thanks to its part-Dragon typing and solid physical bulk, Mega Garchomp survives +6 Azumarill's Aqua Jet and +2 Mega Gyarados's Waterfall. With Stone Edge and Fire Blast, Mega Garchomp threatens Skarmory and fast offensive Flying-types like Gyarados and Mega Charizard Y. Sand Force strengthens Earthquake and Stone Edge, making Mega Garchomp a more potent wallbreaker under sand. Garchomp's Speed tier allows it to outspeed Landorus and base 100 Speed foes such as offensive Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y. However, upon Mega Evolving, it no longer outpaces base 95 Speed foes like Hydreigon. Despite its decent Speed and good bulk, Mega Garchomp is still vulnerable to revenge killers such as Mega Lopunny and Kyurem-B.
