Strategy Overview

Chimecho separates itself from other Psychic-type Pokemon, such as Grumpig, with its access to Recover and Healing Wish, allowing it to better check common threats such as Mr. Mime and Roselia. It also has a varied movepool with handy support moves, such as Heal Bell, Thunder Wave, and Taunt, giving it a niche over other Healing Wish users such as Mr. Mime and Clefairy. It also has Levitate, giving it an immunity to Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Ground-type attacks from Pokemon such as Stunfisk and Camerupt. However, Chimecho faces competition from Audino, which boasts better bulk, and it is commonly walled by Dark-types, such as Pawniard and Mightyena. It also has a low Speed stat, which makes it vulnerable to Taunt users, such as Misdreavus and Grumpig, and it doesn't have much offensive presence, so it can't fit on many teams except defensive ones. It is also setup fodder for sweepers, such as Pawniard and Clefairy, unless it carries Taunt.
