Strategy Overview

Utilizing its great Speed, tricky STAB movepool, and solid attacking power, Weavile is a dangerous physical attacker capable of threatening out common metagame Pokemon like Landorus-T, Serperior, and Tornadus-T with ease and weakening defensive checks like Magearna and Tapu Fini with Knock Off. Weavile is the premier Pursuit trapper, removing crucial Pokemon like Mega Latias and Cresselia and picking off weakened threats like Mega Medicham and Tapu Lele. Additionally, its useful priority in Ice Shard can finish off faster Pokemon like Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Mega Alakazam while helping take the heat off against chipped setup sweepers like Hawlucha, Mega Charizard X, and Tapu Koko. However, Weavile has an extremely hard matchup against Mega Scizor and Mega Mawile, as both are unbothered by its Ice-type attacks and Knock Off and threaten to OHKO it back. Weavile also has an incredibly hard time switching into nearly anything due to its weakness-laden typing and sad defensive stats, and is punished harshly by any type of entry hazard.
