Normal

Smeargle's massive support movepool lets it perform the role of lead entry hazard setter for offensive Normal-type teams. A unique combination of Stealth Rock, Sticky Web, and Spore allows it to support offensive teammates by chipping, slowing, and crippling foes early on in the battle. Sticky Web support from Smeargle is why hyper offensive Normal-type teams exist, and Smeargle is the only way to get it. Smeargle's ability to cripple leads with Spore or Nuzzle to set up hazards more easily also provides early momentum. However, its reliance on support moves and mediocre Speed stat make it susceptible to faster Taunt users such as Cobalion and Deoxys-S. It also has trouble against Magic Bounce and faster Substitute users such as Mega Sableye and Suicune, which can easily shut it down and set up on it. Smeargle is restricted to hyper offensive teams, as balance and defensive teams aren't in need of Sticky Web support.
