Slowbro

Slowbro's access to Regenerator enables it to act as one of the most reliable defensive pivots in the tier. Its high Defense allows it to take on the majority of physical attackers, and this complemented with its good Water / Psychic typing enables it to check several top-tier threats such as Mega Aerodactyl, Terrakion, and Cobalion. Slowbro also has access to reliable recovery in Slack Off, which helps it beat stronger physical attackers one-on-one without being forced out. With a variety of other utility options such as Toxic, Thunder Wave, and Block, Slowbro cements its viability on a variety of different teams from bulky offense to stall. Slowbro also has access to Slowbronite, granting it even more Defense as well as increased Special Attack, which it can take advantage of through Calm Mind sets that can act as sweepers on the more defensive teams if finds itself on. Despite Slowbro's typing allowing it to beat the majority of physical threats, it also gives Slowbro weaknesses to key metagame staples such as Hydreigon and Celebi, and it can also be overwhelmed by common physical threats in Crawdaunt and Mega Sharpedo despite its stellar Defense. Additionally, Slowbro's typing burdens it with weaknesses to both U-turn and Volt Switch, meaning it struggles against offensive pivots such as Mega Manectric and Choice Band Scizor. Its average Special Defense stat also makes matchups against many other special attackers, such as Latias and Togekiss, difficult for Slowbro as well. Without Rest, many Slowbro sets are extremely vulnerable to status, mainly Toxic, which cripples it severely and makes it unable to pivot into strong attacks as often.
