Strategy Overview

Quagsire is seen on stall teams and sometimes balance teams thanks to its support moves, Unaware, and reliable recovery. With Unaware, Quagsire is able to counter many setup sweepers such as Sandslash, Silvally-Ghost, Charizard, and Sandaconda. Additionally, it fulfills a lot of role compression for said teams thanks to its wonderful defensive typing providing an Electric immunity to foes like Togedemaru and Rotom and making it an excellent switch-in to Aggron. However, Quagsire's 4x weaknesses to Grass-types and Freeze-Dry leave it unable to check certain Pokemon such as mixed Silvally formes as well as Perrserker. Furthermore, Quagsire fails to halt incredibly strong wallbreakers like Life Orb Gallade and Choice Band Sawk in their tracks due to them comfortably 2HKOing it. Lastly, Quagsire has poor Special Defense, which makes it struggle against common special wallbreakers like Vikavolt, Choice Specs Mesprit, and Whimsicott.
