Strategy Overview

Electric

Magnezone's Magnet Pull allows it to serve as an effective trapper for Electric teams, taking advantage of threatening Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Choice-locked Excadrill by setting up on them with Iron Defense and eliminating them with Body Press. Its Steel typing provides many useful resistances to types like Dragon, Poison, Psychic, and Ice, allowing it to handle foes like Dragon Dance Dragapult, Nihilego, Latias, and Alolan Ninetales with ease. However, Magnezone is held back by its subpar Speed stat, leaving it vulnerable to attackers such as Hydreigon, Urshifu-R, and Victini. Due to Magnezone's weaknesses to Fire and Fighting, it is unable to properly check Pokemon that it otherwise would such as Heatran, Rillaboom, and Tapu Lele because they carry coverage against it.
