Strategy Overview
Krookodile's solid offensive potential and utility options in Taunt and Knock Off make it a decent Stealth Rock setter in UU. Few Pokemon resist the combination of Earthquake and Knock Off, denting the likes of Nihilego, Galarian Slowbro, and even neutral targets like Primarina and Amoonguss. Intimidate lets Krookodile switch into resisted and neutral hits such as Lycanroc-D's Stone Edge without getting too worn down while also prevents late-game sweeps from Pokemon like Scizor. Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile take on common Defoggers like Mandibuzz and Moltres while having Knock Off to ruin their longevity. However, Krookodile is quite frail, still being threatened by physical attackers like Cobalion, Scizor, and Zygarde-10% even after Intimidate, and its special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attackers like Hydreigon and Salamence. Weaknesses to common types like Grass, Water, and Fighting hinder its defensive utility and leave it helpless against common Pokemon like Tangrowth, Primarina, and Keldeo. Coverage from Electric-types like Thundurus-T's Focus Blast prevents Krookodile from checking them despite its Electric immunity. Excadrill gives Krookodile immense competition as a utility Ground-type on teams, sporting a better defensive typing, having access to Rapid Spin, and being able to hit hard without investment in Attack. Hippowdon's access to reliable recovery and greater bulk also give Krookodile heavy competition as a Stealth Rock setter.
