Strategy Overview

Jirachi's wide movepool, great utility options like Healing Wish, and amazing ability in Serene Grace make it a versatile force in UU. Serene Grace gives Iron Head a high chance to flinch slower foes like Hydreigon, making Choice Scarf Jirachi difficult to deal with for unprepared offensive teams. Additionally, Jirachi's above average bulk and great defensive typing allow it to check threats like Nihilego and Hatterene. Jirachi can fulfill a wide variety of roles on teams, whether it's revenge killing threats like Azelf with Choice Scarf, serving as a potent progress maker with its SubToxic set that can get through typical checks such as Amoonguss and Hippowdon, or healing its team with Wish. However, Jirachi's reliance on Leftovers for checking Pokemon like Salamence and Hatterene makes it susceptible to Knock Off from Nihilego and Tangrowth. Jirachi has only average offensive stats, making it very reliant on Iron Head flinches to make progress against foes it lacks coverage for, with common defensive staples like Skarmory, Excadrill, and Amoonguss walling it regardless. Jirachi, while jack of all trades, is master of none, and faces competition from Pokemon like Hydreigon as a revenge killer, Cobalion as a Steel-type Stealth Rock setter, and Umbreon as a Wish user, making its roles more specific.
