Strategy Overview
In a tier otherwise devoid of viable Spikers, Garbodor stands out as the best option for teams that desire Spikes support. It's decent enough at finding chances to set Spikes against common foes like Sylveon, Toxicroak, and defensive Guzzlord and is blessed with access to Corrosive Gas, which lets it remove opposing Heavy-Duty Boots and force foes to take extra entry hazard damage in addition to crippling other item-reliant foes. Garbodor can also check Fighting-types like Toxicroak and Passimian thanks to its good bulk, defensive typing, and ability Aftermath. Sadly, Garbodor's stats make it hard to keep up with wallbreakers like Copperajah, Tyrantrum, and Choice Band Guzzlord, whose STAB attacks it doesn't resist, and because of how prominent Spikes-immune entry hazard removers like Xatu, Rotom-C, and Talonflame are, its usefulness can often be minimal outside of disrupting teams with item removal or poison spreading. Additionally, it's very difficult to justify using Garbodor over other Fighting-resistant Pokemon and bulky Poison-types like Xatu, Talonflame, and Vileplume on teams that don't need Spikes support, which limits how easy it is to slot on teams.
