Strategy Overview

Torkoal has both access to Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, which looks good when paired with its great Defense stat. However, it has a bad defensive typing, is weak to all entry hazards, can easily get Taunted because of its low Speed, and has no recovery outside of Leftovers, making it hard to justify using it on a team. Torkoal is outclassed by other Stealth Rock setters like Mudsdale because of its better defensive typing and ability to take on Pokemon like Lycanroc and Aggron. It is also outclassed as a Rapid Spinner by Pokemon like Hitmonchan, which has a more offensive presence and better ability in Iron Fist.
