Strategy Overview

Seismitoad provides a lot of utility for teams that appreciate its ability to set up Stealth Rock and provide a useful Water and Electric immunity. Additionally, its bulk and typing let it check Pokemon like Incineroar, Garbodor, and Aerodactyl and beat opposing entry hazard setters like Rhydon and Steelix. Furthermore, Seismitoad has good flexibility with its sets; it can bypass Xatu with Waterium Z-boosted Hydro Pump, or it can utilize a Substitute + Toxic set to deal with Water- and Grass-types like Vaporeon and Dhelmise. However, Seismitoad's longevity can be an issue, as its bulk isn't great, and it's only source of recovery is Leftovers, which makes it vulnerable to Incineroar's Knock Off. Seismitoad is also extremely vulnerable to Grass-types and Grass-type coverage from the likes of Delphox, forcing it to switch out and give up momentum against such threats. Additionally, Seismitoad must run a defensive set to reliably switch into threats like Incineroar and Aerodactyl, whose power enables them to easily break non-defensive sets, which leaves it almost hopeless against Xatu.
