Strategy Overview
With its great Speed tier and sizable bulk, Furfrou excels as both a revenge killer and offensive pivot. What makes Furfrou unique as an offensive pivot is its ability, Fur Coat, as the additional Defense allows it to tank attacks from the likes of Electivire, Komala, and Sandslash. Fur Coat along with its high Speed makes Furfrou a great cleaner as well, as it is naturally outspeeds a great number of foes while being able to stomach the attacks of physical Choice Scarf users like Electivire and Rapidash, all the while having a decent chance to KO them back. When boosted by Choice Band, Furfrou's STAB Return can threaten OHKOs on frailer targets like Swanna and Simisear after slight chip damage, and thanks to U-turn, Furfrou can pick off weakened or extra vulnerable targets like Silvally-Dark, Leafeon, and Exeggutor while safely pivoting out and generating momentum. However, Furfrou's limited coverage can make it a one-trick pony, and physical walls like Mawile, Gourgeist-XL, and Dusclops can easily tank or play around its attacks. Locking into its attacks can also make Furfrou setup bait, and its weak Surf notably can be taken advantage of by common sweepers like Swanna, Simisage, and Bibarel. Furfrou also gets worn down easily from the residual damage of entry hazards and status conditions, which gives walls like Bronzor and Mareanie opportunities to capitalize on it. Lastly, threatening faster special attackers like Kadabra, Raichu, and Choice Scarf Rotom-S limit its potential opportunities to switch in and revenge kill foes.
