Strategy Overview

Eelektross is one of the best pivots in PU and fits into almost any team, having a useful defensive presence and using its wide array of moves in order to be an amazing wallbreaker. These moves consist of both coverage that can hit many Pokemon super effectively and support moves that can cripple Pokemon that don't mind the coverage. Its ability, Levitate, makes Eelektross immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes, giving it an easier time switching in and defensively checking Flying-, Ground-, and Steel-types as well as certain special attackers such as Swanna, Mudsdale, Alolan Sandslash, and Lanturn. However, despite being able to check so many Pokemon, Eelektross is prone to being worn down by Toxic, Leech Seed, and simply switching into attacks too much. Pokemon that run the former two include Mudsdale, Ferroseed, and Tangela, all of which Eelektross attempts to take advantage of. While Eelektross does blanket check many special attackers, physical Pokemon like Stoutland and Aggron give it a lot of trouble. Furthermore, it is very slow, meaning it will often have to take a hit before striking back. Pokemon such as Lanturn have similarly good coverage and resistances while still serving as a slow pivot, giving Eelektross competition. Lanturn also has its own advantages such as a better typing and a higher Speed and Special Defense stat, but it has less of an offensive presence.
