Strategy Overview

Due to its Normal / Fighting STAB combination and high Attack stat, Bewear functions as a potent wallbreaker in the UU metagame. Its ability Fluffy in conjunction with its solid HP and Defense stats allows Bewear to check a large range of physical threats in the metagame such as Mega Beedrill, Scizor lacking Superpower, and Mega Aerodactyl. The coverage moves Bewear has at its disposal, such as Shadow Claw and Earthquake, allow it to take on a wide variety of would-be checks like Chandelure, Jellicent, and Doublade. However, Bewear's low special bulk and set of weaknesses let special attackers like Latias, Celebi, Nidoking, and Primarina force it out easily, even if they cannot switch into its attacks. In addition, Bewear's typing and Fluffy's mechanics give many physical attackers in the tier like Terrakion and Mamoswine a way to bypass its bulk with super effective Fighting-type attacks like Close Combat or non-contact moves like Earthquake and Icicle Crash. Fluffy also causes Bewear to take double damage from Fire-type attacks, which prevents it from being very useful versus Pokemon like Infernape, Volcanion, and Chandelure. Bewear's Speed stat also leaves it outsped by the vast majority of offensive Pokemon even with maximum investment, although it still outspeeds most defensive Pokemon like Alomomola and Blissey.
