Ariados

Despite its access to both Sticky Web and Toxic Spikes, Ariados is an abysmal lead for multiple reasons. Its low Speed leaves it very vulnerable to Taunt users, notably Qwilfish, a far better lead, as well as a slew of offensive Pokemon. To make this issue worse, the prevalence of Skuntank, Qwilfish, and Victreebel tends to limit the effectiveness of Toxic Spikes. Ariados's offensive presence is also rather lackluster, forcing it to rely on Swarm-boosted Megahorn for most of its damage output. Finally, it is simply grossly outclassed by other leads like Qwilfish and even Smeargle, with their higher Speed tiers and greater utility options and supportive capabilities making them easier to use and much more consistent.
