Strategy Overview

  • With an excellent typing and respectable stats, Walking Wake finds a place on sun teams using Protosynthesis to make up for its Speed tier while also 2HKOing most neutral targets with sun-boosted Hydro Steam and threatening common Pokemon like Incineroar and Landorus.

  • Walking Wake pairs well with Torkoal, which can set up sun and support it through moves like Helping Hand. It is commonly sighted with Ogerpon-C, which provides redirection, and Farigiraf, which blocks priority.

  • Walking Wake struggles against a common threat, Flutter Mane, which threatens it with its Fairy-type STAB moves and outspeeds it. Ogerpon-W also has a good matchup, since it can redirect Hydro Steam and threaten a 2HKO on Walking Wake with Horn Leech. It also consistently needs sun up, which can be advantageous to opposing Flutter Mane and Raging Bolt, as they can then threaten an OHKO on it.
