Quagsire

Water Fish Pokémon

WaterGround

Quagsire hunts for food by leaving its mouth wide open in water and waiting for its prey to blunder in unaware. Because the Pokémon does not move, it does not get very hungry.

Strategy Overview

Facing RU with a stalwart expression, Quagsire is a decent physical wall, utilizing its ability Unaware to stonewall a vast majority of setup sweepers such as Bisharp, Gyarados, and Mimikyu. Quagsire uses Pokemon such as Bisharp and Mimikyu as opportunities to heal off chip damage or establish Spikes, while Toxic allows Quagsire to help hinder pesky foes immune to Earthquake like Noivern and Talonflame. Quagsire's main issue is that it fears most special attackers, as due to its poor special bulk, it is obliterated by Pokemon such as Basculegion-F, Ribombee, and Armarouge. Quagsire also immensely struggles with Grass-types such as Hisuian Lilligant and Amoonguss, as they can not only take its Earthquake but also hit it for 4x super effective damage. Grass-type coverage such as Wood Hammer from Mimikyu or Grass Knot from Jirachi can also OHKO Quagsire unexpectedly. Quagsire is also unable to effectively take on Pokemon such as Suicune with Unaware sets.
