Strategy Overview

Overqwil is an amazing wallbreaker, entry hazard setter, and setup sweeper thanks to its remarkable Attack, good Speed, and decent utility movepool. On rain teams, Overqwil synergizes with the best rain sweeper in the tier, Basculegion-M, amazingly, since Overqwil handles the bulkier Grass-types that can take Basculegion-M's Wave Crash like Wo-Chien and Amoonguss and checks Ghost-types that try to revenge kill it as well such as Shadow Sneak Decidueye. In return, Basculegion-M takes care of Ground-types like Gligar and Swampert that can stump Overqwil. Overqwil's typing and access to Intimidate let it check many top threats like Incineroar, Munkidori, and the aforementioned Decidueye, and its access to Spikes lets it capitalize on these traits quite well. It isn't completely useless against walls like Vaporeon, Amoonguss, and Milotic either, since it can punish them with moves like Taunt and Toxic. However, even with Overqwil's access to Water-type coverage moves like Liquidation, Ground-types like Gligar, Swampert, and Flygon can still be problematic for it to handle, and they can often capitalize on it by setting up their hazards. Not only that, but thanks to their naturally high Defense, Steel-types like Duraludon and Copperajah also do a pretty good job at checking Overqwil, tanking a +2 Crunch and, in the latter's case, a Life Orb-boosted one as well. Additionally, common fast Pokemon like Flamigo, Paldean Tauros-W, Inteleon, and Kilowattrel easily prey on Overqwil's poor ability to handle repeated strong attacks, especially special ones. Overqwil's poor special bulk also leaves it vulnerable to powerful wallbreakers like Porygon-Z, Goodra, and Tornadus, which can easily break through it.
