Strategy Overview

Kilowattrel swoops into RU as a niche option that has great Speed and good power, which when combined with its great typing allow it to take on Ground- and Fighting-types such as Krookodile and Galarian Zapdos. Kilowattrel is one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier, only being outsped by Talonflame and Barraskewda, and it can use its blistering Speed stat in order to pivot in and out of battle via Volt Switch or U-turn. Kilowattrel's STAB moves are also incredibly valuable, as they can hit Pokemon such as Galarian Zapdos and Slowbro for super effective damage. The main issue with Kilowattrel is that it can struggle against bulky Ground-types such as Hippowdon and especially Rhyperior. It also struggles with faster common Choice Scarf users such as Terrakion and Gardevoir, which can Trace Volt Absorb to block Volt Switch attempts as well. Kilowattrel can be incredibly frail even against resisted attacks such as Galarian Zapdos's Close Combat, and its power is lacking against bulky Pokemon such as Umbreon and Hisuian Goodra. Kilowattrel is also incredibly susceptible to Knock Off, which makes it take Stealth Rock damage, forcing it to use Roost more often, which means that it would not use Volt Switch as often as it would like to.
