Gouging Fire

Gouging Fire is a solid offensive support Pokemon with a good defensive typing. Breaking Swipe and Burning Bulwark give it a great matchup against physical attackers such as Rillaboom and Chien-Pao.

Kingambit is one of the most prominent partners for Gouging Fire, because it prevents Incineroar from crippling Gouging Fire with Intimidate. Ogerpon-W fits well with Gouging Fire as well, as with Follow Me it can protect Gouging Fire from Ground- and Water-type moves, both of which Ogerpon-W resists.

The Urshifu formes counter Gouging Fire, since they ignore Burning Bulwark and Breaking Swipe. Incineroar is also a good counter to Gouging Fire, cycling Intimidate and Parting Shot repeatedly until Gouging Fire is a sitting duck. Gouging Fire also struggles against special attackers like Flutter Mane and Landorus, which can hit it for big damage, the latter threatening it for an OHKO.
