Strategy Overview

As one of the few viable Pokemon with access to Stealth Rock and Spikes, Glimmet is one of the premier entry hazard setters in the NFE metagame. The uniqueness of its niche means that it comfortably finds places on both hyper offense and slow hazard stacking team compositions. Toxic Debris punishes weak physical attacks like the omnipresent Knock Off and stops the likes of Quaxwell and Monferno from gaining momentum with Flip Turn and U-turn. Corrosion importantly enables the use of Toxic on Steel-types like Tinkatuff and Hisuian Sliggoo, putting them on a timer and ensuring that they cannot check Glimmet and its teammates forever. Despite all this, Glimmet has a generally poor defensive profile with weak bulk and crippling weaknesses to Ground-, Water-, and Psychic-type attacks. It also faces competition as a Poison-type from Koffing and Ivysaur, which both have greater longevity and access to utility moves like Will-O-Wisp and Knock Off, respectively.
