Strategy Overview

Copperajah stands out from the other Steel-types for being a defensive tank that packs both firepower and utility. It checks special wallbreakers like Diancie, Munkidori, and Porygon-Z. Additionally, Copperajah's deep movepool gives it a lot of utility options. For example, Knock Off allows it to hit item-reliant Pokemon that commonly switch into it like Rotom-H and Incineroar, letting Copperajah's entry hazards chip away at them, and Whirlwind lets it phaze setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Uxie and Porygon-Z. However, Copperajah's biggest problem is the lack of reliable recovery, making it a lot harder to consistently switch into special wallbreakers that have STAB attacks that it doesn't resist like Inteleon and Toxtricity. Copperajah also struggles to break through physical walls like Vileplume, Vaporeon, and Milotic, as they can tank its attacks and threaten it back with status.
