Strategy Overview

Amoonguss is a decent wall in the tier with a solid defensive typing that allows it to check Pokemon such as Barraskewda, Mimikyu, and Rhyperior. Amoonguss is more flexible and less prone to being passive than similar walls such as Chesnaught due to its access to Regenerator. With a myriad of support moves such as Stun Spore and Toxic, Amoonguss can make progress against the opposing team by crippling them with status conditions, as well as being a good pivot to threats. However, Amoonguss matches up poorly against common threats in the tier such as Armarouge, Galarian Zapdos, and Mamoswine. It is also prone to being setup fodder against threats it's normally supposed to check, such as Taunt Gyarados and Substitute + Calm Mind Suicune. Finally, due to having poor offensive prowess, Amoonguss can easily be overwhelmed by VoltTurn cores despite having Regenerator.
