Strategy Overview

Normal

Staraptor is a staple on Normal-type teams as a physically bulky hazard remover. Staraptor is able to run a bulky set to provide team support with its access to Intimidate and Defog, being the only viable option for removing entry hazards on Normal-type teams. With its Flying typing, Staraptor gains a neutrality against Fighting-type attacks and becomes able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice item users locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, and Diggersby. Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take multiple hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar Special Defense. Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which reduces its effectiveness as a Defogger.
