Strategy Overview

Spritzee's great bulk and typing allow it to check several of the metagame's most prominent Fighting- and Dark-types and support its team with Wish and Aromatherapy. These traits make Spritzee invaluable to defensive, balanced, and even some offensive teams, as it has great defensive synergy with numerous Pokemon and faces very little competition for a teamslot as a Wish user. Aroma Veil enhances Spritzee's support capabilities even further by granting it an immunity to Taunt and Encore. In addition to being a great support Pokemon, Spritzee can also function as an effective late-game sweeper by using Calm Mind and its amazing bulk. Despite the offensive and defensive usefulness of Spritzee's Fairy typing, it can be a hindrance at times, as it is easily walled by common Poison- and Steel-types, including Foongus, Magnemite, and Ferroseed. This is a serious issue for Calm Mind Spritzee, as it will have trouble sweeping or even posing as an offensive threat until these foes are removed or heavily weakened. Furthermore, Spritzee tends to rely on Moonblast as its sole attacking move, and its offensive presence is unreliable without Calm Mind boosts, which can make it rather predictable and easy to switch into as a result. Because Spritzee is frequently used to handle Fighting-types, its Eviolite is often removed by Knock Off during the match, which can impede Spritzee's late-game sweeping capabilities.
