Strategy Overview

Normal

Mega Pidgeot is an excellent Pokemon on Normal teams, chiefly for its ability to decimate Fighting teams with its STAB Hurricane. With its great base 121 Speed, it outruns not only every Fighting-type bar Mega Lopunny but also most of the unboosted metagame, as well as slower Choice Scarf users like Magnezone. It ties with Porygon-Z for having the highest Special Attack of all Normal-type Pokemon, so it can dish out a lot of damage. No Guard allows Mega Pidgeot to throw around perfectly accurate Hurricanes. There are no Pokemon that are immune to Flying-type moves, and the move also has a nice 30% chance to confuse the foe, which could bail Mega Pidgeot out of a tight spot.

However, despite Mega Pidgeot having two immunities, its bulk is average at best, so it has a hard time switching in. Its special movepool is also woefully shallow, making it rather predictable. In addition, No Guard means opposing Stone Edge, Hydro Pump, and Thunder will always hit.
