Strategy Overview

Metang's Steel typing gives it a resistance to Stealth Rock and allows it to check Normal- and Flying-types. It has solid bulk combined with Eviolite, can function as a bulky pivot by virtue of its access to Stealth Rock, and has Meteor Mash to boost its average base Attack stat. Its Psychic typing gives it a neutrality to Fighting-type attacks, but it also gives Metang a weakness to Knock Off, which can be detrimental given that Metang relies on its Eviolite for bulk and is easily worn down without it. It lacks access to any recovery moves outside of Rest, has weaknesses to common Fire-, Ground-, and Ghost-type attacks, and faces competition from other Stealth Rock users, such as Stunfisk and Probopass.
