Strategy Overview

Despite its solid coverage and bulk, as well as a rare ability in Liquid Ooze that makes it an excellent counter to Victreebel, Swalot is outclassed by Muk and Roselia as a special wall. Muk has higher offensive stats and special bulk, while Roselia has access to reliable recovery and Spikes. Swalot also competes with Eelektross as an Assault Vest user due to its ability to pivot with Volt Switch and competes with Skuntank and Victreebel as an offensive Poison-type due to their secondary typings and much better power. Furthermore, Swalot's offensive stats are below average, limiting its offensive capabilities. Swalot is taken advantage of easily by Pokemon such as Regirock that can set Stealth Rock on it, and Swalot is worn down easily by entry hazards due to its lack of recovery.
