Bewear performs the role of a physical wallbreaker for offensive Normal teams with its high base 125 Attack stat and access to Swords Dance, allowing it to dismantle defensive cores such as those of Water, Steel, and Poison teams. It has a high HP stat and the ability Fluffy, which allows it to take reduced damage from contact moves and hence handle strong priority users such as Belly Drum Azumarill, Mega Scizor, and Dragonite, all of which are threats to offensive Normal teams. However, Fluffy also makes Bewear take double damage from Fire-type moves, making it vulnerable against Pokemon like Heatran. Bewear also has low Special Defense and Speed, which makes it vulnerable to faster special attackers such as Tapu Koko, Hydreigon, and Landorus. As a wallbreaker, Bewear faces competition from Diggersby, which not only has the ability Huge Power but also has priority in Quick Attack and an important immunity to Electric-type moves.
