Azurill

Polka Dot Pokémon

NormalFairy

AZURILL spins its tail as if it were a lasso, then hurls it far. The momentum of the throw sends its body flying, too. Using this unique action, one of these POKéMON managed to hurl itself a record 33 feet.

Strategy Overview

While Azurill's huge Attack stat and rare typing may seem enticing at first glance, a closer look reveals its biggest flaws: terrible Speed, mediocre bulk, a very shallow movepool, and a lack of Fairy-type STAB moves. After considering these factors, Azurill's niche is almost non-existent due to the existence of Bunnelby, a far more effective offensive Normal-type because of its significantly better Speed tier and coverage options. While Azurill's very lacking Speed may make it seem like a decent pick on Trick Room teams, there are far better options that are able to set Trick Room themselves or more easily switch into play; in addition, Trick Room is not considered a viable archetype in LC. You're almost always better off running a more reliable Normal-type wallbreaker such as Bunnelby or even Meowth.
