Strategy Overview

Chansey stands out as the ultimate special wall in the tier, with its gargantuan bulk further boosted by Eviolite allowing it to tank many special attacks from foes like Raikou, Munkidori, Chandelure, and non-Body Press Duraludon. Chansey is a key component on stall teams, as it tanks special moves for its teammates while having great support utility. It has access to Stealth Rock to set entry hazards; Heal Bell to remove annoying status effects like poison from Toxic Chain Munkidori and Bellibolt, Will-O-Wisp from defensive Altaria, and paralysis from the likes of Bellibolt and Scream Tail; and Natural Cure to remove status for itself. However, due to its reliance on Eviolite, Chansey is vulnerable to hazards, so it is easily chipped over time. Moreover, Chansey is extremely passive, with its only reliable attacking move being Seismic Toss, resulting in easy setup opportunities for special sweepers such as Galarian Articuno and Chandelure, as well as physical sweepers that can take advantage of it such as Decidueye and Incineroar. Chansey also struggles to include all its moveslot choices, as it has trouble slotting in Shadow Ball to hit Ghost-types and Thunder Wave to spread paralysis on the same set.
