Strategy Overview

Mamoswine is a very powerful wallbreaker in UU due to its amazing offensive typing that allows it to muscle through common walls like Tangrowth, Hippowdon, and Chansey. Ice Shard also gives it a priority option to threaten many faster threats like Thundurus-T, Zygarde-10%, and Salamence, allowing it to fit on teams as a potent revenge killer. Knock Off provides great utility to punish common switch-ins such as Rotom-H and Rotom-W. Unfortunately, Mamoswine has low defenses, below-average speeed, and a bad defensive typing, making it easy prey for common threats like Scizor, Keldeo, and Rotom-W. Without Thick Fat, it has virtually no defensive utility outside of switching into Electric-type attacks, and even then it cannot always check certain Electric-type threats, like Thundurus-T, which lives an Ice Shard from full and KOes back with Focus Blast. Other Ground-type wallbreakers like Excadrill and Zygarde-10% offer better defensive utility and greater Speed, respectively. Mamoswine is prone to wearing itself down between Life Orb recoil and entry hazards, limiting its ability to wallbreak throughout a game.
