Strategy Overview
With its typing, Eviolite-boosted bulk, and access to Spikes and Stealth Rock, Ferroseed functions as an effective entry hazard setter and good blanket check to several offensive and defensive threats, including Ribombee, non-Trick Mesprit, Gigalith, and Aromatisse. These same traits alongside Iron Barbs allow Ferroseed to annoy pivots such as Togedemaru and removers like Comfey. Despite lacking reliable recovery, Leech Seed and Ferroseed's natural immunity to Toxic and chip damage from sand can make it incredibly hard for some teams to wear down. However, prominent Pokemon like Charizard and Gallade pressure Ferroseed with their STAB moves due to its typing. Ferroseed's passivity also leaves it unable to do much in the face of setup sweepers like Sandslash, Sandaconda, and Cofagrigus. Finally, Ferroseed must exercise caution around foes like Whimsicott, Aggron, and Mesprit, since they can punish it for recklessly switching in with either super effective coverage or moves like Knock Off and Trick.
